ENCLOSED FINISHING VAT (EFV)
The Kusel Enclosed Finishing Vat, or EFV, is typically used in high-volume, stirred-curd production plants. EFVs replace the traditional open finishing tables found in many plants and are shorter, wider, and take on an elliptical shape.
EFVs generate labor savings through increased throughput, reduced maintenance, and automatic “clean-in-place” (CIP) without the need for disassembly.
Operational overview:
- EFV receives the curd and whey mixture pumped from the cheese vat
- Whey is drained through drain screens located on the side of the unit
- Curd is stirred through a traveling agitator
- Salt can be added automatically
The EVF unloads automatically through a discharge opening in the bottom of the vat to which the agitator paddles push the curd. The curd is then conveyed or blown to the next step in the process.
